Often anxiety based on perception is necessary for human survival on earth. But it’s learning how to use it without being controlled by it. Safety & support are the two most essential elements for an enneagram six. While you can provide both through daily rhythms, the key to health is balance.

At some point, even most days, you will experience an out-of-balance life. Don’t try to control this, perfecting your life to the point you think imbalance is impossible. Instead, focus on re-establishing balance. Health for a six comes by understanding how to regain balance when life pulls you out.

Understand the give and take, living aware of what is working and what isn’t. Here are some daily rhythms to consider adding to your life.

1. Open Up To Get Out Of Your Mind

You are constantly aware and thinking. Your mind is always chattering. Instead of paying attention to and trusting everything it thinks, pay attention and analyze if the thoughts are worthy of sticking.

You will never be able to silence the chatter. The goal of rest is learning how to take a seat outside your mind. Shift your focus from the constant chatter to what you want to think. This is the key to meditation, not to escape all thoughts but to focus on what you want to think.

Create space in your day to feast your mind on healthy, positive and filling things. If you have trouble, journal your thoughts. Get rid of what is consuming you to create space to fill it with good.

2. Plan, Plan, Plan

Decision fatigue is the most common problem amongst enneagram type six. To combat this, plan your life. Take time to think them out ahead of time, so when life happens, exhaustion hits, or you’ve already faced one too many decisions in a day, you don’t have to think about what already is. Try planning your top five to-do lists for each day, your meal plan, and what exercise you will do. Don’t over plan but plan for what is important.

As a six, you are the most routine-oriented of all enneagram types. Routines are a strength, but you can quickly get stuck in a rut without some flexibility or balance. Surprisingly, this leads to more anxiety and worry.

Get out of the rut and grow by committing to trying something new.     This is the Best I’ve read on helping an enneagram type six , which my daughter clearly is. For 30 yrs I have been studying The Enneagram but my daughter does not believe in the potential of it and has gone along with being diagnosed as bipolar. Because not sleeping for days at 3 different time periods, due to her anxious thoughts she became psychotic . Now she thinks she Is bipolar and stuck in life. I believe she her temperament type is the issue. But she doesn’t believe it will help. So to make a difference I have to clip out “number six “ when replying with advice to her questions !
