Order These Healthier Coffee Swaps

It’s 4 pm.

I just finished a long day of nannying, and I’m desperate for a pick me up. So you know where this is going…

an iced veinte caramel macchiato, of course.

But after enjoying a moment of pleasure and feeling great about this decision, the sugar rush wears off. And now I’m left wondering why I thought drinking 24 ounces of pure liquid sugar was a good idea.

PEOPLE.

WE CAN’T LIVE LIKE THIS.

So, what are we going to do?

Lets make some healthy swaps to our drinks.

Here is a helpful list of the swaps that I have tried and enjoyed.

  • SUGAR-FREE SYRUPS – It tastes the same and you don’t have to worry about the added sugar.
  • HONEY – It is a natural sweetener so it is a lot better for you.
  • CHOOSE MILK WISELY – Most places will give you 2% milk. Ask for a milk substitute like almond, coconut, or oat milk. 
  • GET A SMALLER SIZE – Don’t always go for the largest size.

There are so many ways to make healthy swaps to your coffee orders, but the best way to do this is to keep your drink as simple as possible. 

In addition to the healthy swaps, I also have a couple of different drinks using recipes I found. They incorporated some of the substitutes I suggested. Here are three coffee options, and for those noncoffee drinkers, two tea options.  

Everyone loves the iced caramel macchiato from Starbucks, but it has a lot of sugar. So here is the drink with a lot less sugar.

Order: Iced Caramel Macchiato

  • Veinte Iced Caramel Macchiatio
  • 2 Pumps of Sugar-Free Vanilla instead of the regular vanilla syrup
  • Almond Milk

The second drink is an iced americano. This one has a lot stronger coffee taste, so it’s for people who enjoy the coffee flavor. A grande iced americano has 60 calories.

Order: Iced Americano

  • Grande Iced Americano 
  • Almond Milk
  • 1 Pump Sugar-Free Vanilla (add another 1-2 pumps for a little bit sweeter)
  • 1 Pump Mocha

The last coffee drink recipe is my personal favorite. It is a french vanilla sweet cream cold brew. The taste is to die for! It is 95 calories for the grande.

Order: Nitro Cold Brew with Sweet Cream

  • Grande Nitro Cold Brew with Sweet Cream
  • 1 Pump Hazelnut Syrup
  • 3 Pumps Sugar-Free Vanilla

Next up, two tea drinks.

Passion tango iced tea is the perfect summer drink. It is fruity and refreshing. Not to mention it doesn’t have any calories. That is a nice bonus.

Order: Passion Tango Iced Tea

  • Veinte Iced Passion Tango Tea
  • 2 Pumps Sugar-Free Vanilla
  • NO SUGAR CANE
  • If that isn’t sweet enough I recommend adding honey.

Everyone loves an iced chai tea latte, and usually, there is a lot of added sugar. This one, however, does not have as much sugar. Additionally, this only has 80 calories in the grande. 

Order: Iced Chai Tea Latte

  • Grande Iced Chai Tea Latte
  • Ask for only 1 pump of chai
  • 3 Pumps Sugar-Free Vanilla
  • Almond Milk

I think we have solved the coffee dilemma. We need to make healthy coffee swaps or drink coffee black. There was one area I didn’t touch on, and that was whether coffee is even healthy or not. If you have any interest in learning the answer to that question check out the blog post about it.
