Want to get healthier as an enneagram six? Let your enneagram number be your guide. Inside, I share the enneagram six health tips that include an ultimate guide on how to get healthy based on your enneagram strengths and weaknesses.
How To Use The Enneagram To Get Healthy
It’s no surprise that everyone ticks a little differently, making health more than just a one-size-fits-all approach. What motivates, scares, and pushes you is very different yet critical in understanding what it will take to help you change. You can not expect what works for someone else will work the same for you because you’re not the same.
As a six, you are a loyalist. You stick with what you believe in, but that belief has to be grounded in truth. When you believe it, you live for it. Understanding your enneagram type can insert truths that make health stick.
It’s what I love about the Enneagram. You add personality to what you do and why you do it. Plus, it’s invaluable in understanding specific action steps you should begin and those to stop doing, creating a more realistic plan suitable for you.
Today, we’re talking all about Enneagram type six. As a six, you function very differently than a three or a four, yet you do it uniquely and beautifully. If you’re an enneagram six or know one, this could be powerful information in helping you achieve health and live a more fulfilling life.
If you don’t know your enneagram type, take this quiz to find out.
Enneagram Type Six
Sixes, you are the loyalist. You are deeply rooted in truths and have a fantastic ability to perceive the world around you. You are great at troubleshooting and coming up with solutions. Some people call it anxiety, but it’s a gift to view problems and troubleshoot them before others recognize there is a problem.
Of course, like all things, the best things can become the most dangerous, which is what happens with the ability to see problems. This in-depth perception comes with recognizing that the world isn’t always peaceful or safe.
Your security, or lack thereof, is your greatest fear leading to “worst-case-scenario” thinking. These thoughts can trap you pushing you down the anxiety spiral and closing you off from using your real gifts to troubleshoot a solution.
Sixes, it’s time to be gentle with yourself. To challenge the “inner committee” residing in your head working to confuse and stress you. Instead, understand that committee without needing to act on their advice. You are intelligent, capable, and worthy. Learn to trust yourself enough to believe it.
Through this, health will become not just another thing you must do but who you are.
Let me show you how to reconnect with your body and shift your mind to boost your energy. Inside this 10+ page guide of health tips for enneagram type six, I’ll show you how to build health on the foundation of abundance, providing more security and energy to live fully.
Enneagram Six Health Tips
Two of the greatest strengths of an enneagram six are awareness and loyalty. If combined, you can build a life of health based on your body’s needs and stick to it without attaching any emotional component. It becomes something you do out of belief and desire.
Now it’s probably unrealistic to ask a six to stop worrying and being anxious. But awareness on this level isn’t always harmful. Often anxiety based on perception is necessary for human survival on earth. But it’s learning how to use it without being controlled by it. To do this, you must learn how to get out of your mind or anxiety spiral and back into the present moment.
Anxiety is not the problem. It’s often the anxiety about the anxiety that causes problems—allowing your mind to spiral into the bottomless pit of being worked up about unknown events that threaten your safety.
While you need comfort and calmness built through routines and rhythms, you must also grow by sitting in the uncomfortable feelings of fear. To realize that while you have fear or experience it, you are not the fear. You can choose to act differently.
As a six, you have to push outside of your comfort zone. In health, this means trusting that your body knows best, even when it rears an ugly symptom. When you learn to connect back to your body, understanding everything it does, it does with purpose. You can provide more of what it needs. Pay attention to your body and the strong intuition within you.
Trust is the key to using your intuition for health and living life to the fullest.

Enneagram Six Health Struggles
You lie in the head center. You spend more time thinking and gathering knowledge than looking at your body’s needs. Of course, it’s not all bad to disconnect from what you feel, but in the case of getting healthy, it takes understanding how your body feels based on what you do.
As a six, you have a strong desire to feel secure. You naturally have eyes to see threats and dangers. While this is a strength, it also brings anxiety. Unfortunately, the diet industry can feel like a threat, making healthy eating a confusing subject for you.
Bright red flashing danger signs remind you that there may be a perfect plan, system, or diet that works, and if you’re not doing it, you will suffer. It’s enough to make anyone anxious and confused about the right decision.
Let this guide remind you it’s okay to ignore the blaring red lights of the diet industry. Instead of paying attention to what is outside of you, get to know what your body is telling you. Your body is brilliant. It thrives in keeping you safe and taking you places. Will you trust it?
It’s time to pay attention to your body. To understand and take action based on what it needs.
Decide that you want it more than you are afraid of it.
5 Practical Health Tips for Enneagram Six
Safety & support are the two most essential elements for an enneagram six. While you can provide both through daily rhythms, the key to health is balance.
At some point, even most days, you will experience an out-of-balance life. Don’t try to control this, perfecting your life to the point you think imbalance is impossible. Instead, focus on re-establishing balance. Health for a six comes by understanding how to regain balance when life pulls you out.
Understand the give and take, living aware of what is working and what isn’t. Here are some daily rhythms to consider adding to your life.
1. Open Up To Get Out Of Your Mind
You are constantly aware and thinking. Your mind is always chattering. Instead of paying attention to and trusting everything it thinks, pay attention and analyze if the thoughts are worthy of sticking.
You will never be able to silence the chatter. The goal of rest is learning how to take a seat outside your mind. Shift your focus from the constant chatter to what you want to think. This is the key to meditation, not to escape all thoughts but to focus on what you want to think.
Create space in your day to feast your mind on healthy, positive and filling things. If you have trouble, journal your thoughts. Get rid of what is consuming you to create space to fill it with good.
2. Plan, Plan, Plan
Decision fatigue is the most common problem amongst enneagram type six. To combat this, plan your life. Take time to think them out ahead of time, so when life happens, exhaustion hits, or you’ve already faced one too many decisions in a day, you don’t have to think about what already is. Try planning your top five to-do lists for each day, your meal plan, and what exercise you will do. Don’t over plan but plan for what is important.
3. Try Something New
As a six, you are the most routine-oriented of all enneagram types. Routines are a strength, but you can quickly get stuck in a rut without some flexibility or balance. Surprisingly, this leads to more anxiety and worry.
Get out of the rut and grow by committing to trying something new. It doesn’t have to be some massive change, but even a new recipe, a new book, or a change in your exercise program is enough to excite your life. Experiencing new things can help get you out of your head and also help you learn to trust your body.
4. End The Stimulants
I know, nobody wants to talk about not using caffeine to boost you. But given that you live primarily in your head and tend to get wound up or bound up easily in your thoughts, adding a stimulant can enhance your anxiety. It can add to the pain, crashing your energy rather than giving it, creating a dependence on it.
Try switching to decaf coffee or tea or opt-out altogether and see if it can help to calm your thoughts. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Even less can benefit you.
5. Use Calming Techniques
Calming your mind is one of the best ways to heal your mind. There isn’t one specific fix to do that. There are many practices to give your mind a break. The key is finding what works for you.
Try a few calming activities and see what works for you. It might be a walk, reading a book, lighting a candle and reading a good book, journaling, cleaning, or even talking with a friend. Make a list of activities that calm your mind, and try adding at least one to your schedule.
Bonus Tip: Do More Planning
Overwhelm and overthinking are a concern for your life. Not to mention, your anxiety can leave you spinning in a sea of overcommitment, looking for an escape when it only ends up feeding your fears, not releasing them. Be mindful of your day-to-day activities. Focus on what’s important over fearing what is critical. Ultimately, planning a life you love.
